Park Partners Supporting Sustainability
Coca-Cola

Throughout Coca-Cola Canada, we are committed to making the pursuit
of environmental excellence a priority in the daily operation of our
business. We recognize that environmental sustainability is a global
issue, and Coca-Cola is participating in initiatives both in Canada
and world-wide.
The steps we take to be good environmental stewards can be traced from the quality of ingredients we demand, through the manufacture of concentrates, to the efficient logistics that we use to deliver products to our bottling partners around the world. Our commitment can also be seen in the design of environmentally conscious packaging in the creation of Coca-Cola products in bottling plants, in the transportation of finished drinks to our retail customers and, finally, in the disposal of packaging by our consumers.
The Coca-Cola system's environmental commitments are focused on the
areas in which we have the most significant impactswater stewardship,
sustainable packaging, and energy and climate protection. We have made
progress in each of these areas, but recognize that there is much more
to do.

Friends of the Environment Foundation

Since 1990, the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) has provided
more than $49 million in funding to over 18,000 grassroots environment
and wildlife projects across Canada. In 2009, TD FEF provided more than
$4.1 million in support of almost 900 projects. The foundation supports
a wide range of projects, including:
- wildlife rehabilitation
- environmental education programs for children
- tree-planting campaigns
- environmental clean-ups
- wetland conservation
- protecting species at risk
Thousands of donors give to TD FEF on a monthly basis and TD Bank Financial Group contributes in excess of $1 million annually. TD also covers the management costs of running TD FEF, which guarantees 100 per cent of every dollar donated goes directly to funding environment and wildlife projects in the community where the donation was made.

Turtle Island Recycling

Located in the Port of Toronto, Turtle Island Recycling is Ontario's largest multi-material recycler. Turtle Island is the operator of two 60,000 sq ft facilities complete with the latest technology. A fleet of over 100 refuse and recycling vehicles operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Established in 1990, Turtle Island Recycling is Canadian owned, employing over 400 people and servicing over 2,500 industrial and commercial customers and over 200,000 residential customers.
Turtle Island Recycling offers a broad range of recycling services,
residual waste services, consultative services and commodity marketing
to both public and private sector clients. Waste streams of paper,
glass, metal and plastic as well as non-traditional materials are
accepted regularly. Once received at our facility, the different
items are logged, weighed and diverted to the appropriate area of
our plant for processing.
Turtle Island's intention is to divert as much from landfill as possible. Over the years, Turtle Island Recycling has found and maintained markets for materials that other recycling companies have avoided. The company's service philosophy is centered on flexibility and convenience for the customer.
Education has been one of the most neglected facets of recycling in the industry. It has been the policy of Turtle Island since its inception to offer education to our customers about their specific programs, industry changes, the materials they recycle and the reasons why these programs are in place.
