Come design your parks gateways!
Downsview Park, in the spirit of its ongoing requirement for community
input and ideas, invites you to participate in the process to create the
designs for three major gateway (entryway) features on the Park's
perimeter, along Keele Street:
1. Keele Street/Sheppard Avenue
2. Keele Street/Diana Drive
3. Keele Street/Whitburn Crescent
Parks are about people and Downsview Park is about you and your family.
This process involves the following consultation:
What do you envision as a gateway (entryway) into the Park?
Ask yourself:
- If you were walking/driving along Keele Street, what would you like to see that would invite you/people into the Park?
- Think of your own house or those of your friends, or even places
of interest you've visited. How do you enter and how does the entrance
resonate with you?
In relation to this, how do you see the Park's vision reflected in
entrances?
Now, we want to hear your answer. We want to get a family perspective. Just as much as you have your own personal feelings of and for the Park, so do your children, and we want to know what they think, too!
Bring the whole family and join us at an interactive open house on:
Sunday, March 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Downsview Park's Discovery Centre, 35 Carl Hall Road.
The results from this process will be presented in the form of illustrative
renderings, demonstrating the landscape architects' interpretation of
your input at a second get-together the evening of Monday, April 12,
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
So, bring your family and your imagination, ideas, photos, drawingswhatever captures your vision of a gateway into this, your, national urban park.
