Picnics

Groups under 25 people may picnic without a Downsview Park picnic permit.

Bookings and permits:

Goups larger than 25 people require a Downsview Park picnic permit. Request a permit by completing a picnic application.

Downsview Park can accommodate picnics for all groups—big and small. Please complete and submit a picnic application to the events department at Downsview Park. A member of our events team will contact you to accommodate your picnic booking.

Family or corporate:

“Family” picnics are classified for groups up to 100 people. 
“Corporate” picnics are classified for groups larger than 100 people.

Please complete and submit a picnic application to Downsview Park's events department and a member of our events team will contact you to accommodate your picnic booking.

BBQs:

BBQs are strictly prohibited on Downsview Park property unless the user has been issued an official picnic permit from Downsview Park's events department. Downsview Park does not provide BBQs. Individuals wishing to bring a BBQ to the park as part of their picnic permit are also responsible for providing a fire extinquisher for their event.

Picnic tables:

Picnic tables are availabe for use. Although some picnic tables can be provided, high seating demands would require that picnickers bring additional seating.

Park areas available for picnics:

Many outdoor locations are available to individuals and groups interested in hosting a picnic of various sizes. Please contact the events department at Downsview Park to arrange a site visit for a space that is appropriate for your group.

Toilets and washing facilities:

A new public rest stop pavillion in the Orchard will be open soon. 

Picnic permit holders may wish to bring their own hand-sanitizer.

Larger groups may wish to augment their event by arranging their own portapotty rentals. Please contact Downsview Park's events department in this regard.

Rules of conduct:

• No amplified sound after 8 pm.
• Picnickers are responsible for cleaning their site after use. Garbage bins are provided onsite.
• Picnic areas are not sheltered. Permit holders wishing to erect tent(s) in their picnic area must receive written permission from Downsview Park's events department.

Parking:

Downsview Park has ample amounts of free parking close to all of the picnic sites.
